Ansty July Newsletter

Dear Members,

We are almost two months into the life of the Ansty Community Sports Club.  We would like to thank all the members for your patience and support through these initial weeks as we get the building up and running and sort out the teething problems.  This newsletter, our first, provides a short update on where we are.

LIFTING OF COVID -19 RESTRICTIONS

The government has announced the lifting on Covid-19 restrictions from the 19th July 2021.  Following the relaxation, it is at the individual’s discretion whether to wear a face covering.

Covid-19 remains rife, however, and we therefore encourage all members:

  • to wear a mask and maintain social distancing while entering and leaving the Clubroom, walking to and from the toilets, or when visiting the bar.
  • to register under test and trace on arrival.
  • to sanitise hands on arrival and departure.

All staff will be required to wear masks.  We will also continue:

  • to organise tables and seating in a manner that allows groups to be separated.
  • to keep the Clubroom ventilated.
  • to operate a table service for those members who choose not to visit the bar.

Please be responsible and respectful towards others and exercise common sense at all times. We will keep these arrangements under review.

MEMBERSHIP

The membership cards are now ready for collection at the bar in the Clubroom.  The membership cards for registered members of the football section will be issued closer to the start of the season on registration.

If you have not managed to register yet, please do so soon.  You can do this through our website or through a paper form attached to this e-mail.  Copies of the paper form are also available at the bar.

For the benefit of members, we will be conducting periodic checks of cards.  We would be grateful for your cooperation if you are asked to present your card.

OUR LICENCE

Thank you to all the members who have supported the Club through the opening weeks and attended the showing of England’s matches in the European Championship.  An amendment to the Club’s licence means that we can now access the balcony.  We would remind members that our licence only allows access to balcony up to 9.00pm in the evening.  We would politely request that members continue to act with consideration to our neighbours when on the balcony by keeping the noise down and leaving the balcony when required to do so.  Please also show proper consideration to our neighbours by leaving quietly at the end of the evening.

SNOOKER & DARTS

We are pleased to announce that league snooker and billiards will commence in the new Centre in September, with three snooker teams competing on Thursday evenings and a billiards team on Tuesdays.  We will also be fielding darts teams on Monday evenings.  We hope to be able to advise on the Wednesday darts league shortly.

BUILDING PROGRAMME

While we are in the new Centre, those of you who have visited will have seen that the building programme is not yet complete.  In the coming weeks we hope at long last to improve the mains water supply and complete the internet connection to the Centre, together with .  There will be further work to complete the construction of the balcony and resolve defects.  We will also working with the Ansty Village Centre Trust (AVCT) to identify solutions to improve the external path.

The AVCT will shortly be getting on with the second stage of the Centre project with the demolition of the old Village Hall and Social Club to allow for the extension of the car park.  Once the design of the car park extension has been reviewed and agreed, it is planned to get construction underway later in the year.

In addition to this, the Club is developing schemes to refurbish the Groundsman’s Store and construct cricket nets on a new site on the Recreation Grounds.

With best wishes,

Shaun Janman
